Hello, I’m Christine – though most families and children know me as “Miss Chris.”
I am a paediatric occupational therapist with over 16 years of experience supporting children and their families. I love helping children grow, thrive, and participate more fully in the everyday activities that matter most to them – at home, at school, and in the community.
My therapy approach is centred on meaningful, personalized activities that provide the “just right challenge.” When children are engaged and motivated, learning happens naturally. By building on each child’s strengths and interests, I help them develop the skills they need for greater independence, confidence, and success in daily life.
I believe therapy works best when families feel supported and involved. Over the years, I have worked closely with multidisciplinary teams that may include teachers, speech-language pathologists, behaviourists, psychologists, counsellors, and physicians. Collaboration ensures that each child receives consistent, thoughtful support across environments.
I am a member of the Registry of Autism Service Providers and have specialty training in Ayres Sensory Integration® and Assistive Technology. These additional areas of expertise allow me to thoughtfully tailor interventions to each child’s unique sensory profile, learning style, and functional goals.
My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging, and collaborative environment where every child can build the skills they need to participate more fully in their world – with growing independence and confidence.
Why I Started Salt Spring Island OT
When I moved to Salt Spring Island, I quickly realized that local families were traveling off-island just to access pediatric occupational therapy. I wanted to change that.
I started this practice to bring professional, family-centered care closer to home — so children could get the support they need without long commutes or waitlists. My goal is simple: to help kids and families feel confident, capable, and connected right here in their own community.
My Approach
Every child’s story is unique. That’s why I take time to get to know each child; their strengths, challenges, interests, and goals.
My sessions are play-based, personalized, and always centered on what motivates the child. I believe in working with families, not just children, so that progress continues beyond each session.
I call it the “Just Right Challenge” – the balance between encouragement and achievement that helps kids grow without frustration.
“Every child deserves the chance to grow with confidence and independence. And every family deserves support along the way.”
